About the Role

The Australian National University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead its Defence Industry Security Coordination (DISC) program. As a key member of the Information Security Office, you will be responsible for overseeing the University's clearances and DISC membership.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the ANU's security programs, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to safeguard people, ideas, and information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Security Strategy Development: Develop and implement effective security strategies to protect sensitive information and technologies.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to assess and mitigate security risks, ensuring compliance with evolving security standards and regulatory changes.
  • Security Training and Guidance: Provide security training and guidance to university stakeholders, promoting a culture of security awareness and best practice.
  • Clearance Management: Manage security clearances for the University, ensuring timely and efficient processing.
  • Program Oversight: Oversee Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership, ensuring seamless integration with existing security protocols.
About You

We seek a dynamic and experienced leader with a strong background in security management, preferably with experience in the defence industry. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence peers, executives, and senior defence staff.

You will have a proven track record of managing complex security programs, with a deep understanding of security regulations and standards. Your expertise in risk assessment, mitigation, and strategic planning will enable you to drive operational and policy outcomes that align with the University's goals.

Requirements
  • Australian citizenship is mandatory, with eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 (or higher) security clearance.
  • A postgraduate qualification in a related field, with 2-5 years of relevant professional experience and management expertise.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian security environment, with in-depth knowledge of defence export control regulations.
