A flagship research institute, NIER has achieved significant milestones over the last 15 years, growing to encompass 20 research centres and groups, and co-located industry partners.

NIER has been a nexus for industry and academia, driving efficiencies and generating new knowledge to meet evolving regional economic needs.

As Executive Director, you will play a strategic role in shaping NIER's next phase of development.

You will lead cross-disciplinary research programs focused on NIER's themes: Powering the Future, Next Generation Resources, and Environmental Sustainability & Security.

This will achieve large-scale impact through targeted research and policy-influencing initiatives locally, nationally, and internationally.

About You

An outstanding track record of strategic leadership is essential, collaborating with external partners to deliver research goals and objectives.

Key qualifications include:

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications or equivalent level of knowledge gained through education, training, or experience.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, including budget management and sustainable outcomes.
  • Expertise in strategy development and strong track record of delivering results aligned with vision and objectives.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with industry, community, and academic partners.

Terms and Remuneration

The successful candidate will be offered a 5-year fixed term position on a full-time basis with a competitive remuneration package commensurate with responsibilities and relevant experience.
