Executive Director Position

The University of Newcastle has a long history of delivering high-impact research outcomes and fostering strong relationships between industry and academia.

NIER, a flagship research institute, has grown to encompass 20 research centres and groups, and a range of co-located industry partners. From its inception, NIER has been a nexus for driving efficiencies, optimising processes, and generating new knowledge to meet the evolving needs of the regions' economy.

As Executive Director, you will play a strategic role in shaping the Institute's development, ensuring the delivery of cross-disciplinary research programs focused on key themes such as Powering the Future, Next Generation Resources, and Environmental Sustainability & Security. This will achieve large-scale impact through targeted research and policy-influencing initiatives locally, nationally, and internationally.

You will lead the Institute's strategic growth, focusing on expanding research funding and delivering outcomes that align with university and external partner priorities.
