Job Title: Culinary Specialist

About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team in preparing and cooking meals for our residents.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about food preparation and has strong time management skills to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of dishes with precision and creativity;
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Clean and maintain kitchen area, equipment, appliances, utensils and fixtures in accordance with standard cleaning and infection control processes;
  • Record Keeping: Undertake basic record keeping of key kitchen and stock data;
  • Liaising: Liaise with the supervisor and/or suppliers in relation to stock ordering and control;
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations;
  • Menu Development: Contribute ideas for menu development and special events.

To be successful in this role, you will have comprehensive knowledge of commercial food preparation, cooking processes, food hygiene control and cleaning chemicals used in a kitchen. You will also need to demonstrate minimum one-year experience as a commercial cook, working in a hygiene-controlled environment. Experience working within the Aged Care industry will be highly regarded.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of Commercial Food Preparation: Demonstrated knowledge of commercial food preparation, cooking processes, food hygiene control and cleaning chemicals used in a kitchen;
  • Experience as a Commercial Cook: Minimum one-year experience as a commercial cook, working in a hygiene-controlled environment;
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience working within the Aged Care industry will be highly regarded;
  • FDA Compliance: Solid understanding of food safety legislation, texture modification and special needs diets.
