The Director TUMRA position requires a strong understanding of the cultural connection between Traditional Owners and the Great Barrier Reef. This role involves working closely with Great Barrier Reef Traditional Owners, First Nations people, and remote communities to deliver strategic outcomes.
Key responsibilities include leading program delivery with Traditional Owners, influencing policy and operational outcomes for Country and culture, representing the organization at high-level forums and negotiations, and engaging with remote and regional communities across the Great Barrier Reef.

- Represent the organization at high-level forums and negotiations
- Engage with remote and regional communities across the Great Barrier Reef
- Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's spiritual connection to Country
- Ability to clearly articulate and apply principles of cultural authority, traditional lore, and customs for managing Country
- Sound knowledge of government policies and initiatives such as Closing the Gap and the Uluru Statement from the Heart
- Strategic leadership that motivates and inspires others through example
- Proven experience in building high-level relationships that achieve enduring partnerships, particularly with First Nations people
- Strong attention to detail, resilience, and composure when managing competing priorities or complex challenges
