Role Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a remote mining village, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs. As a Handyman, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, tidy, and functional operation of village buildings, rooms, and common areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out daily maintenance tasks, including fixing door handles, hinges, latches, light fittings, minor leaks, and touch-up painting.
  • Patch holes in walls, replace tiles, secure loose fixtures, and complete small surface repairs as required.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, communal areas, and facilities to identify signs of damage, wear, or safety issues.
  • Replace items such as light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, taps, and shower heads as part of preventative upkeep.
  • Clear leaves, debris, and rubbish from external areas including walkways, verandas, and car parks.
  • Perform minor outdoor maintenance such as pressure washing surfaces, adjusting gates, and repairing fences.
  • Complete assigned work orders using maintenance systems like MEX or similar platforms.
  • Escalate complex or licensed tasks to qualified trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers).
  • Safely use hand and power tools including drills, screwdrivers, and saws.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workshop and ensure tools are in good working condition.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests from staff and guests.
  • Coordinate access to rooms and facilities when carrying out maintenance work.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while managing a daily job list and responding to urgent issues as they arise.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in remote or FIFO mining villages.
  • Comfortable working independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Able to manage a daily job list while maintaining responsiveness to urgent issues.
  • Known for a proactive attitude and attention to safety and detail.
  • WA Driver's Licence (C Class).
  • Construction White Card.
  • Basic Handyman/Maintenance Certificate (if held).
  • First Aid & CPR.
  • Forklift Ticket.
