About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Accountant to join our team in the Internal Budgets & FMIS Section of the Finance and Procurement Branch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) at the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the FMIS, ensuring that processes supporting business as usual operations are configured correctly, including access management, ledger maintenance, and budget module administration.
  • Monitor the FMIS, troubleshoot issues, and provide support to end users.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of the FMIS and associated processes.
  • Prepare materials for the Assistant Director in response to external audit queries and requests.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of solutions to address outstanding items or risks identified in previous audits.
  • Enhance the FMIS by working with stakeholders to understand user requirements and providing input and suggestions regarding the best way to configure the FMIS.

  • High aptitude for IT systems and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong solution focus and continuous improvement mindset.
Desirable Skills
  • System administration experience or experience with Technology One as an end user.
  • Experience in Government accounting roles.
  • Working toward or completed Bachelor of Commerce / Accounting / IT.
  • Working toward or attained CA / CPA.
Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be an Australian citizen at the time of application. You will also need to undertake pre-employment checks, including a national police check and health assessment. You may need to obtain and maintain at least a Baseline security clearance.
