Electric Substation Design Engineer Role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and leading complex projects related to electrical substation detailed earthing design.

Your primary tasks will include project management from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery while minimizing costs.

You will work closely with clients to build strong professional relationships, regularly communicate through written and verbal means, and mentor junior engineers.

You will also have the opportunity to utilize cutting-edge software packages like CDEGS and 3D CAD to enhance your work.

We seek a highly motivated individual who is driven by challenges, eager to grow professionally, and possesses excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Required qualifications and experience include a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree with good industrial experience at Earthing Design Engineer level, Master of Engineering desirable, and a Full UK Driving license.

The ideal candidate will be able to thrive in a dynamic work environment, review and authorise earthing reports and drawings to a high standard, and provide constructive technical feedback to all engineering levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead complex projects related to electrical substation detailed earthing design.
  • Work closely with clients to build strong professional relationships and ensure project delivery on time.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers.
  • Review and authorise earthing reports and drawings to a high standard.
  • Provide constructive technical feedback to all engineering levels.
  • Conduct site visits to carry out earthing assessments, design commissioning, and investigations after failures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree with good industrial experience at Earthing Design Engineer level.
  • Master of Engineering desirable.
  • Full UK Driving license.
  • CAD and 3D CAD knowledge.
  • Desirable: MALT, MALZ, RESAP, HI-FREQ, FCDIST, TRALIN, CS Card holder, CSCS Card holder.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
