Principal Civil Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Civil Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in utilities design and management.

  • Your primary responsibility will be to manage utility relocation designs, ensuring they align with civil/structural designs and resolve any clashes or design relocations.
  • You will lead 3D modelling, coordination, and clash detection of utilities using appropriate software.
  • In collaboration with other design disciplines, you will ensure the overall design integrity.
  • As a leader, you will provide technical advice and guidance to project team members.
  • You will confirm relevant authority requirements, standards, specifications, and procedures for the design scope of works.
  • Liaising with utility authorities is also a key aspect of this role, as you will manage and coordinate approvals.
  • Additionally, you will assist in the management of sub-consultants/specialist utility designers.
  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance with project components, including drawings, reports, specifications, and studies, as well as interfaces with other disciplines, is also an essential part of this position.
  • Last but not least, you will guide the technical development of junior engineers in the utilities discipline area.

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in utilities design, accompanied by extensive experience in managing utility approval processes for major utility relocation and protection designs on infrastructure projects.

  • A tertiary qualified engineer with chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation is required.
  • Experience designing Sydney Water infrastructure and Water Servicing Coordinator (WSC) accreditation with Sydney Water is advantageous.
  • Relevant post-graduate experience, including supervising aspects of a project, application of standards, and technical knowledge, is also desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing utility approval processes for major utility relocation and protection designs on infrastructure projects is essential.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are necessary for internal and external relationships.
  • Experience working in multi-discipline design and/or project teams is beneficial.
