Maintenance Planner Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner to join our team.

As a key member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of data in our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and coordinating effective maintenance planning and scheduling.

The ideal candidate will have a trade background with mechanical or electrical aptitude, experience working with high-speed processing and packaging equipment in a food production environment, or relevant industrial manufacturing experience.

You will work closely with maintenance technicians to optimise work plans, maintain accurate schedules, and implement efficient plant numbering systems.

Additionally, you will develop bill of materials for plant items, acquire necessary resources, and forecast available resources for future periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed work plans for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Prioritise work orders based on urgency, equipment criticality, and resource availability.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians to ensure clarity and efficiency.
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and maintain accurate maintenance department activities and special projects.
  • Ensure schedules are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Audit plant and implement an accurate plant numbering system.
Planning and Resource Management:
  • Develop bill of materials for plant items.
  • Plan and acquire all resources needed for tasks in conjunction with Supervisors.
  • Forecast available resources for future periods together with Supervisors.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Capture all downtime data and cost data related to tasks undertaken.
  • Breakdown information analysis.
  • Initiate and assist with root cause analysis of reoccurring breakdown issues.
About You:

We seek a candidate with:

  • Trade background.
  • Mechanical or Electrical aptitude.
  • Previous experience in high-speed processing and packaging equipment in a food production environment or relevant industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Computer literacy and CMMS knowledge/experience.
  • Astute negotiating, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
