About the Role of a Crown Prosecutor:

As a Crown Prosecutor, you will appear as leading counsel in court trials, provide authoritative advice on criminal law and evidence, and exercise discretion to initiate, vary and discontinue serious criminal charges.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Represent the State in superior court trials
  • Provide expert advice on criminal law and evidence
  • Exercise discretion to initiate, vary and discontinue serious criminal charges
  • Motivate and contribute to the professional development of legal officers and support staff
  • Identify and address the needs of victims of crime

Key Requirements:

  • Admission as a Legal Practitioner in a State or Territory of Australia
  • A high level of professional competence and ethical standards
