Vocational Skills Specialist

The Vocational Education and Training sector provides an alternative learning environment for secondary students who may benefit from additional support. YMCA Vocational Schools offer adjusted education programs and vocational training, with campuses located across Brisbane.
As a VET Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable young people and adults, while strengthening their relationships with their families and support networks.
">Key Responsibilities:">- Plan and facilitate employability programs for participants, as well as support the operation and delivery of vocational education and training.
- Assist in delivering associated programs, services, and events offered to individuals.
- Support YMCA and RTO trainers in their delivery of academic and wellbeing programs to participants.
- Form intentional relationships with participants to identify their strengths, passions, interests, and unmet needs, providing appropriate support through the program.
- A commitment to a client-centred approach, incorporating creative and innovative youth work practices.
- A passion for working with young people, with a strong interest in the development of the holistic individual.
- Certificate IV in Career Development or equivalent qualification; or significant demonstrated experience in Youth Work and working towards completion of the above certificate or equivalent.
- Significant demonstrated recent experience working with young people at risk.
- Demonstrated ability to provide individualized support and action plans for young people, enabling them to realize opportunities and grow in academic and vocational capacity.
- Possession of a valid driver's licence.
