About the Role

Brickworks is seeking a skilled technician to maintain heavy equipment at our Austral Bricks plant in Wollert VIC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area while ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily routine inspections of all heavy equipment.
  • Carry out routine maintenance on kiln cars, including block alignment and replacement.
  • Inspect and maintain seals on both the front and back of kiln cars.
  • Check kiln cars for any damage to blocks or other materials and report any findings.
  • Assist in completing full car rebuilds, including tasks such as stripping old materials, replacing seals, installing new materials like Castable and Cal-Sil boards, Vermiculite, Kao Wool, and Scoria, installing blocks to manufacturer's specifications, and conducting quality checks on all completed repairs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desired but not essential.
  • A trade qualification in a related field, such as Bricklaying, Boilermaking, or Welding, is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to following safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform housekeeping and routine cleaning of the work area.
