
Senior Midwife Position Available

This is an exciting opportunity for a midwife to work within our maternity unit on a permanent part-time basis, with hours flexible and open to discussion.
As a midwife, you will be responsible for practicing with advanced clinical competence in the provision of quality and cost-effective care in consultation with other members of the healthcare team. This includes providing support and direction to other staff while role modeling and promoting professional standards of practice and conduct.
About the RoleThe midwife will be responsible for:
- Providing support to staff on best practices for managing pregnancy care and improving outcomes for women in both antenatal and postnatal stages
- Supporting the nurse unit manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
- Providing clinical guidance, leadership, and education to members of the clinical team to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activities
- Liaising with obstetric teams to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care and manage complex cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Actively contributing towards the quality, safety, and wellbeing processes in the clinical area
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
- Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
The successful candidate will have:
- Current midwifery registration with AHPRA
- Post-graduate midwifery experience
- Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
- Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to the continuous improvement of healthcare and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others
- An ability to work autonomously and function as a member of a diverse health service delivery team
- Willingness to commit to and role model the values of the organisation
