We are seeking a Principal Tailings Engineer to fill this critical role in Melbourne. The successful candidate will provide technical support to our clients' tailings and mine waste management teams, applying civil and geotechnical engineering principles to design and manage tailings storage facilities (TSFs) and water storage facilities (WSFs).
This position requires collaboration with our clients to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Design and management of TSFs and WSFs;
- Geotechnical analyses using software packages like MUK3D;
- Site characterisation and instrumentation monitoring systems development and management;
- Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
- Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications;
- Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field;
- Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field (preferred);
- Professional registration (preferred but not essential);
- Engineer of Record (EoR) certification;
- At least 8 years of experience in a consulting environment or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software;
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment with multiple project assignments and deadlines;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Valid Australian driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel.
