Gurindji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC is seeking a full-time Centre Manager based in Kalkaringi, NT, to lead the Ngaliwany Purrp'ku Child and Family Centre, serving both Kalkaringi and Daguragu communities.
This role is the heart and soul of the Centre, offering vital support to families through culturally connected services.
As the Centre Manager, you will report directly to the CEO and work closely with a small, dedicated team to help community members access essential services such as mental health support, housing assistance, parenting programs, and advocacy for young families.
The role is central to preserving cultural traditions while ensuring younger generations receive the skills and support they need to make positive life choices.
You will lead a team of Key Workers to connect families with services, foster partnerships with local organisations, and keep the strong cultural heritage of the community alive.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and mentoring Key Workers and administrative staff
- Developing and managing culturally safe programs and services, including parenting support, cooking programs, and advocacy for young families
- Building relationships with local service providers and community organisations to ensure families receive timely access to mental health, housing, and other essential services
- Overseeing the Centre's day-to-day operations, including WHS and accreditation processes
- Managing budgets, reporting requirements, and internal communication
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and team development
- Ensuring accurate data management and reporting systems are in place
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, along with at least one year of experience working closely with communities.
Ideally, you have lived and worked in a community setting and are deeply committed to helping families access essential services while preserving and promoting cultural traditions.
While leadership experience is desirable, it is not mandatory.
Strong organisational skills and good interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
We are committed to supporting you in developing your leadership capabilities as you grow within the position.
Practical experience in similar roles, especially in community settings, is highly valued.
Other highly valued skills and experience include:
- Experience engaging with service providers and community organisations to connect families with services such as mental health support and housing assistance
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity with the challenges facing remote communities and a passion for addressing those challenges in culturally appropriate ways
- Building and maintaining strong communication and relationship with the Children and Families Program of the Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities (Northern Territory Government) as they are the funding body of the Ngaliwany Purrpku Child and Family Centre
- Ensure that progress reports are submitted within the due dates as per Grant Contract
- Experience in grant writing is desirable for preparing and submitting applications to secure funding for community programs
In addition to an attractive salary in excess of $100 K plus superannuation and the opportunity to make a difference in the birthplace of the Aboriginal Land Rights Movement, the successful candidate will receive a host of generous benefits, including:
- Relocation assistance of up to $5,000 to help you move to this picturesque part of the country
- Company vehicle - Fully maintained 4 WD Vehicle with fuel for use throughout the Northern Territory
- Salary sacrificing options to help increase your take-home pay
- Free - Fully furnished 3-bedroom housing/accommodation provided with utilities
