About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Manager, Built Environment to join our team at the John Lewis Partnership. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that will be responsible for innovating, designing and delivering the property aspects of scope 1 and 2 emissions.

As a Sustainability Manager, Built Environment, you will contribute to our Purpose, Ethics & Sustainability strategy while ensuring healthy, sustainable buildings and achieving net-zero targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the implementation of our Responsible Property Framework (RPF) to ensure that we plan, design, construct, commission, operate and dispose of assets sustainably and with net-zero at the core.
  • Evolve the framework to meet JLP's aspirations and sustainability goals.
  • Assess and address climate risks across JLP's built environment.
  • Monitor and enhance indoor environment quality.
  • Engage with project teams and stakeholders to ensure best-in-class delivery.
  • Leverage internal and external expertise to support sustainability plans.
  • Oversee Scope 1, 2, and selected Scope 3 carbon reporting.
  • Manage contracts with carbon consultants for accurate data collation.
  • Support external assurance processes and progress reporting against Science Based Targets.

Requirements:

  • Degree in sustainability / engineering discipline.
  • Business strategy skills.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Communication of complex data to senior stakeholders.
