Child Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Protection Officer to join our Child Safety and Professional Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in our care.
About the RoleThe Child Protection Officer will be responsible for conducting investigations and providing expert advice and support on child protection matters. You will work closely with our schools and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective child protection systems and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough investigations into child protection matters
- Provide expert advice and support to schools and other stakeholders
- Develop and implement effective child protection systems and policies
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide professional support and training
- Contribute to the development of contemporary and effective workplace policy, procedures, and systems
- Capacity to understand and support the Catholic Church's Mission in Catholic Education
- Extensive knowledge of Child Protection legislation and related legal issues
- Proven expertise in the management of complex child protection matters
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution
- Ability to give sound advice to local leaders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- High standard of confidentiality
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills
- At least 5 years of experience working in child protection
- Skills in interviewing children
- Policy development and adult training skills and experience
A 6-month probationary period will be applied to the position. This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with CEDoW.
