Medical Receptionist Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and friendly Medical Receptionist to join our team at Bendigo Doctors.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Open and close clinic as per set procedure.
  • Greet patients and other callers in a professional manner.
  • Make appointments for patients.
  • Ensure medical records are managed confidentially and efficiently.
  • Accurately process patient payments via cash, Eftpos, and direct bill transactions.
  • Invoice Medicare, Private Health Funds, TAC, Workcover.
  • Knowledge of the MBS schedule and correct billing procedures.
  • Deal with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists, etc. courteously and helpfully.
  • Attend to patient enquiries.
  • Check and handle internal emails.
  • Fulfill reception duties when staff is away, on holidays, or sick leave.
  • Maintain the reception waiting area and consulting rooms tidy, including clean up of spills if necessary.
  • Ensure accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records with appropriate scanning, faxing, and filing of all documents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient personal and financial information.
  • Complete recalls.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the medical centre.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service and teamwork skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with Medical software (BEST PRACTICE/MEDICAL DIRECTOR).
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including multitasking.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality patient service.
  • At least 1 year experience as a Medical Receptionist in a medical practice required.
