Financial Strategy Leader

We are seeking a seasoned Financial Strategist to join our Group Transformation team in Sydney. This role will provide dedicated financial support and oversight to strategically significant programs across various areas, including technology modernisation, data and tools, customer and employee experience, risk and regulatory compliance, and efficiency savings.

The Financial Strategist will be responsible for financial analysis and reporting of the overall QBE Transformation portfolio, including involvement in the annual prioritisation process, managing global project finance standards, and Transformation related FP&A work presented to the Group Executive level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Management: Global process owner with financial oversight for selected strategic projects, including reporting, planning, forecasting, business case financial modelling, and supervising offshore support roles.
  • Ensure adherence to Group Finance and accounting policies, including the Group Capital Expenditure accounting policy.
  • Maintain Group reporting routines; ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful reports to facilitate key business decisions and identify risks and issues.
  • Support the construction and challenge of business cases for programs within QBE's transformation investment portfolio.

Requirements

  • Proficient in key accounting areas, such as capitalisation, determining amortisation profiles, calculating impact of accounting write-offs, maintenance of Fixed Asset Registers, FX conversion processes, and reconciling reported financial data.
  • Proven ability in managing information systems, extracting relevant data, and building financial models.
  • Strong finance background and ability to synthesise large data sets into simple insights and recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
