SRE Role Overview

Citadel Securities is looking for a skilled Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. As a crucial member of our SRE team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our financial systems. Your primary goal will be to design, implement, and maintain scalable, efficient, and highly available systems. This role requires a strong background in computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems. You must be proficient in at least one modern structured programming language, such as Python or Java, and have experience with software development tools and practices. Additionally, you will work closely with our development teams on automation, refactoring, and will be involved in designing and deploying new generations of production applications and software infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of applications, owning the automation of repetitive tasks and resolution of systematic issues, and being a source of both ideas for improving applications and a part of the team that implements those ideas. You will also understand the end-to-end flow across the various applications at both a technology and business level, identify and deliver green-field engineering solutions for issues based on root cause analysis, own incident management and resolution, and lead by evangelizing the SRE mindset to other teams. To be successful in this position, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, strong communication skills, and a passion for learning, adapting to changing requirements and technology, and inventing new approaches to hard problems. Responsibilities
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of applications
  • Own the automation of repetitive tasks and resolution of systematic issues
  • Be a source of both ideas for improving applications and a part of the team that implements those ideas

  • Identify and deliver green-field engineering solutions for issues based on root cause analysis
  • Own incident management and resolution
  • Lead by evangelizing the SRE mindset to other teams
  • Provide support and ensure applications are production ready

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong background in computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Fully proficient in at least one modern structured programming language, such as Python or Java
  • Comfortable with a range of current software development tools and practices
  • SQL and database experience a strong plus
  • Web UI experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit
  • A passion for learning, adapting to changing requirements and technology, and inventing new approaches to hard problems
