Job Summary

SOS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Security Compliance Officer to join our Federal Government client's team at the APS5 level.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating security compliance activities, application of policies and procedures, and protecting the department from security risks and vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and triage compliance assessments and enquiries related to workforce security arrangements and outcomes.
  • Manage a section mailbox and coordinate advice determinations and escalations.
  • Undertake various administrative duties to support the department's security policies and procedures, including reporting, records management, and compliance activities.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Section and Branch objectives.
  • Support the Branch to deliver timely and consistent responses on policy compliance and security matters.
  • Develop an understanding of legislation, policy, and regulations that support recommendations relating to security issues/policy.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the Australian Government's Protective Security Policy Framework.
  • Experience with government records management and filing systems.
  • Initiative and ability to think strategically to apply sound judgment in decision-making while working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with experience drafting correspondence and compliance and assurance reports.
  • Proven ability to build and manage enduring relationships with key stakeholders to achieve operational and policy outcomes.
  • The ability to harness and analyze information from various sources to support the dissemination of security advice and outcomes.

Security Clearance

This is a security-assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, with the successful candidate holding a Negative Vetting 1 Australian Government security clearance and undergoing other employment suitability checks.
