Job Opportunity: Rural Fire Service Manager

This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and manage a team of professionals in the Rural Fire Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction and operational support to rural fire brigades and volunteers.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading the Area team in the execution of regional strategic and operational plans;
  • Managing organisational change programs through regular consultation with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders;
  • Undertaking the role of Chief Fire Warden for the Area and working with the Manager Bushfire Mitigation to plan and execute prescribed burns and the Permit to Light System;
  • Collaborating with the Regional Duty Manager to maintain operational awareness and oversee the Area; and
  • Responding to large scale rural fires and other incidents to provide command leadership on-site or in incident control centres.

Key skills and qualifications required for this role include:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders from rural and remote communities;
  • Experience in leading and managing teams;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; and
  • High level of physical fitness and ability to work in challenging outdoor conditions.
