About The Role
  • Oversee the operational aspects of the Smart Materials and Surfaces Research Group and establish protocols to support laboratory activities.
  • Lead and supervise a team of research staff and students within the laboratories while carrying out general laboratory management.
  • Prioritize achieving maximum research efficiency for one of the largest research groups at UNSW.
Main Responsibilities
  • Develop guidelines, processes and procedures that align with laboratory activities of the Smart Materials and Surfaces Research Group.
  • Supervise research staff and students, including monitoring undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects.
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders to drive research outcomes.
  • Assist students and staff in refining research publications to facilitate successful publication.
  • Design, implement and manage laboratory databases and information systems; analyze and report on research performance metrics.
About The Ideal Candidate
  • A PhD in Chemistry with substantial post-graduate experience and highly developed chemical synthesis skills.
  • Familiarity with synthetic chemistry, cell biology and measurement science is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience managing inventory and purchases via Jaggaer or equivalent is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail are essential.
