**Position Overview: Head of Libraries**

The Head of Libraries plays a key leadership role within a school, reporting to the Executive Principal. This position is responsible for driving library innovation across all campus libraries.

As a respected teacher and librarian, the Head of Libraries will provide professional leadership to library staff members while fostering an environment that promotes a love of reading and critical engagement with literature.

This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) ongoing teaching contract with an initial three-year position of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have:

  • An active Christian lifestyle and demonstrated agreement with Chairo's Statement of Faith
  • Post-graduate qualifications (desirable)
  • Experience in an educational and/or library leadership position
  • A thorough understanding of current educational practices and teaching from a Christian worldview perspective
  • Sound knowledge of library services within a school environment and how the library supports teaching and learning objectives
  • Understanding and current knowledge of literacy, curriculum and information skills, including trends in literature and digital literacy
  • Ability to build strong partnering relationships and communication channels with all members of the school community

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction for the school library service
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective library operations
  • Supervise and mentor library staff to enhance their skills and performance
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and deliver curriculum-aligned programs and services
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding child safety and wellbeing
