Job Title: Senior Development Assessment Officer

We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Senior Development Assessment Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference in shaping the future of our city.

About the Role

This role involves assessing and reporting on all forms of development applications, including modifications and reconfigurations. You will be responsible for liaising with the public, developers, and internal stakeholders to ensure that planning matters are handled efficiently and effectively.

You will also supervise the investigation, evaluation, and reporting of all applications, providing regular updates to your manager. Additionally, you will assist and mentor junior staff members in processing and assessing development applications, and interpreting planning issues and legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and report on development applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including developers, community groups, and government agencies
  • Supervise the investigation, evaluation, and reporting of development applications
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members in processing and assessing development applications
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma qualification in town planning, regional or urban planning, or related discipline
  • Extensive experience in development assessment, handling complex applications relating to industrial, commercial, or residential zoned land
  • Experience communicating with various internal and external stakeholders, including dealing with the community and professional industry to achieve the best possible outcome
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
