Electrical Systems Engineer

As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the reliability of electrical equipment and systems within our infrastructure.
This includes developing strategies to reduce unplanned outages and maintenance costs, as well as applying data analysis and digital tools to predict failures and plan interventions.
Additionally, you will oversee electrical system design and installation to ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
Work closely with mechanical, process, and operations teams to integrate electrical components seamlessly into plant infrastructure.
Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify and resolve electrical issues promptly, providing technical support to site electricians.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending enhancements to operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to improve electrical equipment reliability.
- Apply data analysis and digital tools to predict failures and plan interventions.
- Oversee electrical system design and installation to meet safety and compliance standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical components into plant infrastructure.
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify and resolve electrical issues.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in electrical reliability engineering within a mining or heavy industrial processing environment.
- Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas or Classification Competency provided by a Registered Training Organisation.
- TÜV or equivalent qualification in Functional Safety (desirable).
- Experience with VSDs, protection relays, power system analysis, HV/LV assets.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Demonstrated competency in SAP; knowledge in utilizing databases in SQL or Snowflake is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience with managing electrical equipment hazardous areas.
- Demonstrated experience with and managing instrumentation equipment hazardous areas.
- Working within a processing operation and/or refinery with gas infrastructure.
- Working with High Voltage and Low Voltage Electrical Assets.
