This is an exciting opportunity for a current paralegal to join our team at Gilchrist Connell and gain valuable experience in insurance law. As a paralegal in our insurance law team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of matters, including litigation and advisory work.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with routine and ad hoc legal and administrative tasks, including review, draft and file of documents, chronologies, statements, agreements, and correspondence.
- Prepare matters for conference and hearing, attend and take notes at meetings and court hearings, and provide a summary of the case to practitioners when requested.
- Conduct legal research and provide file notes of your analysis of relevant legal principles applicable to the matter.
- Review medical records, taxation documents, and other documents relevant to the matter to prepare chronologies and summaries of the evidence in a legal claim.
- Attend team meetings or case review meetings to provide input into the discussion.
- File management, including diarising and monitoring client deadlines, court timetables/orders, and other important dates.
- Assist with preparation of routine reports.
- Assist in managing communications with clients.
- Assist with court filing, and other work conducted outside of the office if needed.
- Entry-level paralegal position suitable for law students with an eagerness to learn.
- Excellent research skills, with the ability to learn to interpret and apply legal principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational and time management skills to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proficient in using research tools and other technology.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication (verbal, written and oral) skills, including the ability to draft clear and concise documents.

- This role requires a current and valid police clearance.
