About the Opportunity
We are seeking a part-time Cancer Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our cancer care services, you will provide leadership and expertise in the development of clinical practice that reflects the McGrath Model of Care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a role model and expert clinician in services to patients with gastrointestinal cancer.
- Engage directly with patients to assist in planning and navigating their investigations and treatments, supportive care and referral to required services.
- Provide expert clinical advice to patients, family members and other health professionals involved in the care of the patient.
- Support the delivery of multidisciplinary care for inpatients and outpatients, including attendance at Multidisciplinary Meetings (MDMs).
- Coordinate education for patients and carers.
- Leadership role in the development and provision of evidence-based nursing clinical practice.
Requirements:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent.
- Post graduate qualification in the speciality field.
- At least 5 years full time post-registration experience & at least 3 years' clinical experience in oncology, palliative care or cancer stream specific nursing.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working in private healthcare settings.
Clinical Expertise:
This role requires a high level of clinical expertise and knowledge of gastrointestinal cancer. You will be responsible for providing guidance and support to patients and families affected by this disease.
In order to be successful in this role, you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve high standards of patient care.
