A $450m Water Infrastructure Project OpportunityThe John Holland Infrastructure division is currently constructing some of Australia's most complex projects, including the Black Hill to Tomago M1, Gold Coast Light Rail, and Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre. Due to industry expansion, the John Holland Infrastructure business is seeking a Design Manager for an upcoming $450m Water Infrastructure project in regional NSW.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and control the delivery of project design to ensure quality, completion, and project objectives are achieved.
- Select and engage external design partners, monitoring their performance on deliverables, costs, and timeframes.
- Manage the design approval process in accordance with project requirements and program.
- Prepare budgets and schedules of design delivery for management approval and manage reporting the cost of design delivery in the project life cycle.
- Ensure design meets project requirements while managing costs.
- Demonstrate commercial and contractual awareness in dealing with clients and external design partners.
- Manage client and stakeholder expectations, communicating effectively with the project team.
- Supervise design and drafting staff to ensure project requirements are met.
- Select and develop design management staff by providing leadership and mentoring.
- Understand design compliance and reporting procedures and processes.
- Foster interaction between design and construction teams to maximise innovation and project success.
- Ensure JH Safety in Design requirements are met.
- Tertiary Qualification in Architecture, Building, Construction, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
- 5-10 years' experience in technical management roles on significant projects.
- Demonstrated competencies in Head Contract and Subcontract understanding and interpretation.
- Strong stakeholder management with major consultant partners.
- Awareness of risk management principles and how design can impact operational risk.
- Proficient skills in relevant computer software packages.
- Strong time and cost management skills in timely delivery of design and management of both design costs and works costs.
