This is a challenging role for an experienced Drill and Blast Supervisor to lead a team in a dynamic open pit mining environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of fostering safety in the workplace, with extensive experience in leading teams to drive performance outcomes.


Job Description:

As a Drill and Blast Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring effective utilisation of personnel and equipment to meet production plans and targets. This includes communicating drill and blast requirements at pre-start meetings, coordinating work-crew responsibilities, and ensuring all employees understand and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental working procedures.


Responsibilities:
  • Effective utilisation of personnel and equipment to meet production plans and targets
  • Communicate drill and blast requirements at pre-start meetings
  • Coordinate work-crew responsibilities
  • Ensure all employees understand and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental working procedures
  • Provide technical advice/ expertise on Drill and Blast operations
  • Carry out blast notifications and clearances
  • Monitor shift performance to ensure drill and blast targets are met
  • Report any significant deviation from the drilling and blasting plans
  • Ensure the transport of blasting materials is in accordance with statutory regulations
  • Carry out accident/incident investigations as required
  • Liaise with the Workshop Manager to plan scheduled maintenance activities
  • Undertake scheduled audits and inspections of magazines and facilities

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A demonstrated track record of fostering safety in the workplace
  • Proven experience as a Drill & Blast Supervisor, leading and mentoring teams effectively
  • Extensive experience in open pit mining within a Nickel, Copper, Gold, Lithium or Iron ore background
