About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Android Technical Lead to join our Apps Platform team at Carsales. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical architecture and solutions meet both our current and future organisational and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product managers and design system team to create a technical vision for the team, balancing flexibility and complexity while prioritizing app performance and speed to market.
  • Identify new patterns and solve them, serving multiple experience teams that integrate seamlessly with our core platform from a technical and operational perspective.
  • Provide technical leadership across our Buy Platform (Web & API) and Design System (TORQ), as well as across our iOS and Android teams, ensuring collaboration and convergence where it makes sense.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the implementation of our design system, continuously upgrade our CI pipelines, and drive automation test strategies.
  • Mentor and coach other app engineers to ensure our team is at the forefront of technical innovation and help create an environment that retains, nurtures, and attracts top apps engineering talent.
Requirements
  • Proven technical leader of large mobile apps teams in high-traffic, complex, and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience in building and adopting app platform capabilities and design systems that enable the delivery of organisational and customer needs at speed and scale.
  • Strategic thinker and technical expert in the world of apps, with a strong understanding of APIs and the Apple space.
  • Ability to define and communicate an inspiring technical vision to various stakeholders and take accountability to deliver towards it.
  • Strong conceptual understanding and ability to communicate complex ideas simply.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and connect people at all levels.
