About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Android Technical Lead to join our Apps Platform team at carsales. As a technical leader, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical vision for our Android apps, ensuring they meet the needs of our organisation and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product managers and design system teams to create a technical vision that balances flexibility and complexity, while prioritising app performance and speed to market.
  • Identify new patterns and solutions, serving multiple experience teams that integrate seamlessly with our core platform.
  • Provide technical leadership across our Buy Platform (Web & API), Design System (TORQ), and iOS and Android teams, ensuring timely technical decisions and collaboration.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the implementation of our design system, upgrade CI pipelines, and develop automation test strategies.
  • Mentor and coach app engineers to ensure our team remains at the forefront of technical innovation and attracts top talent.
Requirements
  • Proven technical leadership experience in large mobile apps teams, with a track record of delivering in high-traffic, complex, and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience in building and adopting app platform capabilities and design systems that enable organisational and customer needs at speed and scale.
  • Strategic thinking and technical expertise in the world of apps, with a deep understanding of APIs and the Apple ecosystem.
  • Ability to define and communicate an inspiring technical vision to various stakeholders, with a proven track record of delivering towards it.
  • Strong conceptual understanding and ability to communicate complex ideas simply.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and connect people at all levels, with a humble and team-oriented approach.
