Associate Director of Traction Power Systems

As a key member of our global team at Arcadis, you will play a vital role in delivering world-class sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration, you will work closely with our State and Discipline Leads to take on a primary and influential leadership role on national projects within the Rail Traction Power sector.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and reviewing complex reports, proposals, and presentations to clients in the areas of AC and DC traction substation system design, including single line diagrams, layouts, circuit diagrams, earthing and bonding schematics, and coordination of the design with communication, civil, structural, and mechanical design disciplines.
- Managing the delivery of specialized components of projects, advising on the most effective team to achieve this.
- Governing technical reviews and quality assurance activities for projects, documentation, processes, and practices.
- Using technical knowledge to identify and realize new client opportunities and to provide technical input into the bidding process.
- Leading the technical development of staff, coaching, and mentoring on technical issues.
- Providing technical expertise and overview to clients and stakeholders and assisting clients through technical decision-making and providing alternative options/solutions if there are changes to project parameters.
Requirements for the role include:
- 15+ years of experience as a power systems engineer, with at least 5 years of recent experience in traction power system design or equivalent.
- Tertiary qualification in electrical/power engineering, preferably chartered engineering and RPEQ status.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office.
- Highly regarded skills include experience in a design consultancy role, demonstrated ability to lead design teams, and deliver traction design packages, as well as experience working with traction power system modeling software tools.
Note: Not all of these skills are expected, and training will be given to develop them.
