Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated Youth Workers to engage directly with young individuals who require support and guidance.

In this role, you will be instrumental in helping them develop essential life skills, establish healthy relationships, and provide crucial support during their most challenging times. Your efforts will be focused on guiding them towards a fulfilling and independent future.

Fostering a sense of belonging while promoting independence is a profoundly rewarding career choice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing rapport and trust with young individuals, serving as a role model while managing residential duties.
  • Assisting them in navigating personal challenges, offering emotional and professional support in collaboration with a team of Youth Workers, Case Managers, and other community services.
  • Engaging in post-crisis support initiatives to better assist young individuals with complex needs and behaviors.

Support and Training
Tradewind Australia provides a thorough induction program that includes classroom, online, and practical training. This program is designed to equip qualified Youth Workers with a comprehensive understanding of their role and the skills necessary to operate within our Integrated Practice Framework.

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, successful completion of the Induction Program is mandatory before being assigned to a young individual. Employment offers will initially be on a casual basis, transitioning to permanent full-time positions upon successful completion of the program. Candidates must be available for a 3-week induction period.

Candidate Profile
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Transferable skills and a willingness to enroll in a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • A valid full Australian Driver's License
  • Proven ability to engage and build trust with young individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Skills to mentor and teach essential life skills
  • Resilience and determination to overcome challenging situations
  • Ability to perform under pressure and achieve positive outcomes
