The Role
We are seeking dedicated Youth Workers to engage directly with at-risk youth requiring assistance.

You will play a crucial role in helping them develop essential life skills, foster healthy relationships, and provide unwavering support during challenging times. Your efforts will guide them towards achieving a fulfilling and independent lifestyle.

Supporting a young person's sense of belonging while promoting their autonomy is a profoundly rewarding career path.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing rapport and trust with young individuals, serving as a role model while managing residential duties.
  • Assisting them in navigating personal challenges, offering emotional and professional support in collaboration with a team of Youth Workers, Case Managers, and community services.
  • Engaging in post-crisis support initiatives to better assist youth with complex needs and behaviors.

Training and Support
Tradewind Australia provides a thorough induction program that includes classroom, online, and on-the-job training. This program is designed to equip qualified Youth Workers with a comprehensive understanding of their role and the skills necessary to operate within our Integrated Practice Framework.

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, successful completion of the Induction Program is required before being assigned to a young person. Employment offers will initially be on a casual basis, transitioning to permanent full-time roles upon successful completion of the program. Candidates must be available for a 3-week induction period.

Candidate Profile
To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Transferable skills and a willingness to enroll in a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • A full Australian Driver's License
  • Proven ability to engage and build trust with youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Skills to mentor and teach essential life skills
  • Resilience and grit to face challenging situations
  • Capability to work under pressure and achieve results
