Ecological Landscaping Position

Join us to apply for this Ecological Landscaper role and be part of a dynamic team in designing, installing and maintaining gardens on private and public properties across the City.

  • We are seeking an entry-level individual with no previous experience required. This position consists of paid training and site work.
  • The main responsibility of this position is to undertake all tasks associated with the installation and maintenance of gardens under the guidance of the Lead and in collaboration with the team members.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation and Maintenance: Planting native plant species, digging rain gardens, grading, disconnecting downspouts, laying compost, mulch, soil, and installing other materials.
  • Garden Maintenance: Removing and/or trimming trees and plants, weeding, dead heading, pruning, seed collection, watering.
  • Site Work: Cleaning debris, litter from residential and commercial jobs, tool upkeep and maintenance, collecting, separating litter and removing weeds from BIA worksites.
Requirements:
  • Possession of 'G' or 'G2' Class driver's license preferred.
  • Able to withstand up to 7 hours of physically demanding labor.
  • Ability to adapt to varying tasks, conditions, and locations.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather (heat, rain, cold).
  • Responsible, punctual, detail-oriented, reliable, and flexible.
Working Conditions:
  • Work in varying weather conditions and spend extended periods outdoors, usually 8 am- 4 pm.
  • Repetitive tasks.
  • Handling of heavy loads.
  • Physically demanding – bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, digging, shoveling, raking.
