About The Role

The Media Adviser plays a critical role in supporting the department's business units, senior executives, and ministerial offices by providing expert media and issues management advice.

This position involves building and protecting the department's reputation through strategic media engagement, identifying emerging issues, and developing effective communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day media liaison support, including researching and drafting responses to media requests, and managing proactive media opportunities and events.
  • Conduct horizon scanning and media analysis to identify emerging issues relevant to the department.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to identify and manage potential media risks and issues early, developing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with ministerial offices, senior executives, department staff, media, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Experience in undertaking day-to-day media liaison work, including researching and drafting responses to media requests, and managing proactive media opportunities and events.
  • Experience in conducting horizon scanning and media analysis on topics relevant to the department.
  • Ability to liaise with key stakeholders to identify and manage potential media risks and issues early.
