As a locum Remote Area Nurse with Aussie Locums, you'll have the opportunity to provide essential healthcare services while experiencing the unique culture and natural beauty of remote Australian communities. Our locum contracts range from 4 to 12 weeks, giving you the chance to make a real difference in rural and remote communities across the Northern Territory.
About the Role:
We're on the lookout for skilled Remote Area Nurses to fill primary health care locum contracts in various locations throughout the Northern Territory, including Ti Tree, Willowra, and Yuendumu. As a member of our team, you'll work both independently and collaboratively within a close-knit healthcare team to deliver comprehensive, culturally sensitive primary healthcare to individuals and families in remote areas.
You'll be responsible for promoting health education and preventative care within the community, administering immunizations and other necessary treatments, and being part of a dedicated on-call roster, providing emergency care when it's needed most.

Aussie Locums' locum contracts offer a diverse range of locations across the Northern Territory, each offering a unique opportunity to work in a culturally diverse setting while making a meaningful impact in remote healthcare. From Ti Tree, surrounded by stunning desert landscapes and home to local Aboriginal art galleries, to Willowra, where you can experience a truly remote experience and immerse yourself in a close-knit, culturally rich community, and Yuendumu, one of the largest Aboriginal communities in Central Australia, renowned for its vibrant arts scene and strong community spirit.
What You'll Need:
To succeed in this role, you'll require current unrestricted AHPRA registration, minimum 5 years' experience as an RAN or in Emergency/Primary Care in remote settings, and REC (Remote Emergency Certification), MEC (Maternity Emergency Certification), and Pharmacotherapeutics or RIPRN desirable. Additionally, you'll need Immunisation provider certification, on-call experience, Manual Driver's License & 4WD Certification, ISTAT competency with certification and access number, and Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) updated annually.
Essential Training:
To excel in this role, you'll need to complete a range of essential training modules, including Aseptic technique: theory and practical assessment, Medication safety competencies – all modules, Blood safe – collecting blood specimens, Manual Handling, Fire and Emergency Procedures, Infection Control and Hand Hygiene, Aggression Minimisation, Clinical Deterioration Recognition and Management, After-Hours Assessment and Communication for PHC Nurses and AHPs, Early Sepsis Recognition and Management (via RAHC eLearning), and Cultural security and safety specific to the Northern Territory.
