Role Description

We are seeking an experienced educator to join our Faculty of Education as a Senior Lecturer in Education.

About the Role:

This is a key appointment that will contribute to shaping the future of education at Southern Cross University. As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering high-quality teaching programs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Deliver student-centred teaching and lead curriculum development across undergraduate and postgraduate education programs.
  • Academic Leadership: Provide leadership in teaching and the scholarship of teaching, contributing to innovative practices and mentoring early-career academics in effective learning design.
  • Research: Undertake impactful research aligned with the Faculty's priorities, including securing funding, publishing in quality journals, and supervising students.
  • Service and Leadership: Engage in collaborative service and leadership within the Faculty and broader University, including course coordination, governance participation, and professional development initiatives.

Your ideal approach will be student-focused, leading high-quality teaching, contributing to impactful research, and actively engaging with community and professional partners.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A PhD or Professional Doctorate in Education or related field, and an appropriate teaching qualification in secondary education, and relevant state or territory teacher registration in Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in initial teacher education, particularly in professional experience, work integrated learning, and leadership in curriculum design and evaluation.
  • A proven ability to design, implement and assess innovative university-level curricula and teaching resources that enhance student learning and engagement.
  • A strong research track record, including competitive grant success, HDR supervision, and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
