About the Role

The Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking a highly skilled Personnel Security Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Security team, you will be responsible for conducting pre-employment suitability assessments, engaging with AGSVA on behalf of the department, and providing support and advice to internal and external stakeholders on personnel security matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-employment suitability assessments and prepare complex case assessments
  • Engage with AGSVA on behalf of the department in relation to all security clearance requests
  • Prepare temporary access and eligibility suitability paperwork for delegate approval
  • Provide support and advice to internal and external stakeholders on personnel security matters
  • Positively influence the department's security culture

Requirements
  • Australian citizenship
  • Negative Vetting 1 security clearance
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and an ability to show good judgement, think strategically and logically
  • Proven ability to plan and organise work and produce high quality results
  • Flexibility to manage a diverse workload and competing priorities, in a busy team environment, and achieve results
  • The ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, including with colleagues, customers and stakeholders at all levels
  • A professional approach and high level of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management is highly desirable
