About the Role

Eli Lilly is seeking an experienced attorney to join our Digital Sustainability Legal Team as a Senior Director. This role will provide strategic legal counsel on global privacy risks to the organization, with a particular focus on China and the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive and strategic counsel to business partners on matters related to privacy, data governance, and cybersecurity.
  • Collaborate with other team members to provide counsel in areas of artificial intelligence and emerging regulations.
  • Partner effectively with Legal, Ethics and Compliance, Information Technology, and Global Security to identify innovative solutions and compliance practices.
  • Proactively monitor, train, and advise on emerging risks, regulations, and best practices.
  • Provide legal counsel on privacy and cybersecurity incident response actions and internal investigations.
  • Ensure the organization maintains appropriate policies, notices, standards, controls, and practices for privacy.
  • Educate business and operation leads on potential legal implications of proposed privacy platforms, programs, and practices.
  • Participate in teams responsible for data governance, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and privacy strategies.
  • Represent Eli Lilly in industry, legal, and other external groups related to privacy in China and the APAC region.
  • Draft and review agreements, including privacy provisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and J.D. degrees from accredited schools.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one country in the APAC region.
  • A minimum 6 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including at least 4 years of experience in privacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-house legal experience, ideally with a global pharmaceutical or biotechnology company, or advising global corporation clients at a law firm.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of various privacy regulations, frameworks, and accompanying guidance.
  • Experience successfully and strategically handling privacy risks, threats, and breaches.
  • Ability to research, track, and turn regulations and enforcement trends into practical, actionable advice.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills with corporate business partners and/or clients, including the ability to work closely with information technology and security teammates.
