Clinical Interventionist, Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in providing services to preschool-age children with autism.

As a member of an interprofessional team, this position reports to the Clinical Manager, Provincial Preschool Autism Services. The clinical practice is guided by Clinical Leaders and an Autism Advanced Practice Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with families to set goals for their child related to identified needs.
  • Conduct assessments to inform goal setting.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate intervention programs based on assessment findings.

The Clinical Interventionist will contribute to family education, work within various intervention frameworks, and provide direct supervision to Program Implementers.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia.
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months and First Aid certification.
  • Two years' recent experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6) and their families.

Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism, excellent clinical skills, and ability to work independently are essential requirements for this position. The successful candidate will also have excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and time management abilities.
