Are you ready to shape the future of global infrastructure?

As a Senior Staff Engineer, you'll play a key leadership role in enabling our systems to power all of our products globally and at scale.

Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we're looking for someone with deep expertise in distributed systems and infrastructure to help us achieve this goal.

The right candidate will have a strong track record of leading company-wide initiatives, collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholders, and driving business outcomes through technical excellence.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about staying close to the code and technical details, with a user-centric orientation and a track record of productizing complex infrastructure.

  • Define and own the technical roadmaps for large cross-cutting efforts that span the Core Infrastructure, with Stripe-wide impact
  • Own and drive cross-functional partnerships with organizations spanning Infrastructure, Service Platform, Developer Experience, Data Platform, Product Engineering, Finance, Risk, Operations, and GTM teams, and partner closely with the leadership/stakeholders of various teams within those organizations
  • Establish project ownership and contribute to prioritization and execution with the appropriate amount of urgency
  • Present clear, thoughtful, and opinionated analysis to senior leaders, enabling them to make tough and impactful decisions with clear tradeoffs
  • Have excellent judgment and operate with minimal oversight
  • Mentor and sponsor experienced managers and/or very experienced engineers, assist with team growth and development, and set the culture bar for excellence and technical curiosity
