Aboriginal Maternal Care Specialist

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal women and their families by providing culturally tailored care.
The Aboriginal Maternal Infant Care (AMIC) Practitioner will play a pivotal role within a dedicated healthcare team, delivering comprehensive antenatal, birthing, and postnatal services across various settings, including hospitals, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, and home visits.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide personalized and compassionate support to each family, ensuring seamless continuity of care from antenatal to postnatal periods
- To contribute to research and practices addressing culturally specific needs of pregnant women and their families
- To participate in the creation and refinement of health policies and procedures that cater to the unique needs of the community
- To craft and assess educational initiatives promoting better health outcomes for Aboriginal women and their families
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice (HLT40213)
- Maternal and Infant Care Skill Set – Clinical (HLTSS00031) under the Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (HLT50213)
- Registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia
