Family Violence Practitioner Role

The role of a Family Violence Practitioner is critical in addressing the complex needs of victims and perpetrators of family violence. This involves conducting comprehensive risk assessments, providing tailored advice and support, and coordinating access to necessary services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and community partners to ensure effective service delivery.
  2. Familiarize yourself with contemporary risk assessment tools and guidance to provide expert advice and support.
  3. Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and policies, including the Child, Youth and Families Act 2007 and the Family Violence Protection Act 2008.
Requirements
  • A minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work or equivalent experience in the family violence sector.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse client groups.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and its impact on individuals and communities.
