Job Opportunity

Lithgow City Council seeks a Team Leader Parks and Gardens to manage the maintenance of their parks, gardens, and streetscapes.

Reporting to the Works Coordinator - Recreation, this role is responsible for planning and coordinating the upkeep of Council-managed green spaces, including Queen Elizabeth Park, Eskbank House, and other gardens in the region.

The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, implement seasonal routine garden maintenance, establish new gardens, identify and implement pest and disease management programs, provide knowledge on plant identification and growing requirements, and offer leadership and on-the-job training.

  • Manage day-to-day park and garden activities
  • Develop and execute seasonal garden maintenance plans, including planting annual flower beds, mowing, pruning, hedging, mulching, fertiliser application, and weed control
  • Create new gardens and landscapes
  • Implement integrated pest and disease management strategies
  • Provide expert advice on plant species and horticultural practices
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to team members

This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for horticulture.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in park and garden management, a strong understanding of horticultural principles, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
