Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Liability Underwriter to join our team in Western Australia. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for assessing and managing liability risks across various industries.

Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional customer service, working closely with account management and business development teams, agents, and brokers to craft tailored coverage solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply underwriting strategies to target markets and accounts within your area of expertise.
  • Underwrite liability insurance risks following established guidelines and standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support account management and procurement efforts.
  • Mentor junior team members, provide guidance, and pursue personal development opportunities.
  • Manage the liability portfolio, including processing, credit management, documentation, and risk servicing.
  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external customers, including regular visits to agents and brokers.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience in general liability underwriting, risk management, liability broking, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance legal and regulatory environments, as well as risk analysis principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with agents, brokers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in risk evaluation and coverage determination.
  • Proven problem-solving skills for complex underwriting scenarios and negotiations.
  • Customer-focused approach to understanding and meeting client needs.
  • Experience with Pricing, Portfolio Management, and intermediary account management.
  • Insurance qualification such as ANZIIF Cert IV or working towards it.
