Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Horticulturist to join our team at the Australian Botanic Garden. As a key member of our Natural Areas and Open Spaces team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing turf and horticultural areas across the garden site.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and developing turf and horticultural areas
  • Managing turf care and landscape construction
  • Supervising apprentices and contractors

You will work closely with our team to ensure all work follows safety, environmental, and industry standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience managing turf practices and leading a small team in a public garden setting
  • Ability to balance turf management with heritage, conservation, safety, event, and horticultural challenges
  • Background in sports turf (e.g. golf courses or sports fields) or experience working on fine turf (e.g. high-profile lawns)
  • Certificate lll in Sports Turf Management or equivalent

Able to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos and willing to undertake fieldwork for extended periods of time.
