Job Overview:

As a disability support worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with daily living activities, providing emotional support and companionship, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance the client's overall well-being
  • Help clients maintain their independence by assisting with mobility and transportation needs
  • Administer medication and monitor health conditions in accordance with established protocols
  • Prepare meals and assist with household tasks to promote a safe and comfortable living environment
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans that cater to each client's unique needs and goals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to track client progress and outcomes

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Certification in disability support or a related field is highly desirable
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, including those with complex needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team to achieve shared goals
  • Compassionate and patient approach to supporting clients with diverse needs and backgrounds
  • Capacity to handle challenging behaviours and situations in a professional and respectful manner
  • Knowledge of disability rights and advocacy principles to promote inclusive and equitable care

Essential Requirements:

  • A current blue card
  • Valid driver's license to transport clients safely and efficiently
  • Completed or enrolled in a certificate IV or higher in a relevant field, such as disability support or a related discipline
  • Ability to undergo a criminal history check and provide clearance
